Job Summary

This position will control the computer operating systems,(Siemens) to control the Heating, Air-conditioning, and Ventilation of both of our large state of the art Research Facilities. The encumbent should be able to monitor the systems daily and react when things breakdown and send out alarms to the operating system. The Utilities Station Operator should be able to know who to contact or have the ability to go to the system in alarm and make repairs if possible. Encumbent should have the ability to maintain the building’s Energy Management systems and understand how to trend reporting data while learning our (Phoenix) Operating System for the new Bio engineering Building. Understanding HVAC is a must because that is what the systems control in both facilities. Knowing when to call for help on the large system is essential. Great teamwork is in place to assist the controls operator maintaining the buildings and making repairs as needed.

Minimum Education and Experience

- A high school diploma or equivalent.
- Three years of controls experience and completion of a formal controls training program OR three years of computer programming experience with knowledge of HVAC systems OR
- Two year of controls experience and five years of commercial or industrial HVAC experience.
- Basic knowledge of HVAC, electrical and electronics systems.
- A working knowledge of various computer software applications.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

-Monitors, operates and troubleshoots the energy management system that controls the heating, ventilation and air conditioning systems (HVAC) serving the Research Facilities.
-Retrofits, troubleshoots, calibrates, repairs and maintains HVAC systems.
-Provides preventive maintenance of direct digital, pneumatic, electric and electronic controls for HVAC systems.
-Diagnoses control system failures and takes corrective action.
-Notifies technicians when alarms sound on their equipment or space being monitored.
-Prepares daily reports to document work performed.
-Performs related responsibilities as required.
