Job Summary

LEARN is seeking a director-level position responsible for the overall outreach and marketing efforts of LEARN within the state of Texas. The candidate will report to the President & CEO and work as a team with LEARN’s Chief Technology Officer (CTO) and Chief Financial Officer (CFO)
Position Location: This position requires the candidate to currently operate from a home office in a virtual office environment.
Travel Requirements: Travel to member locations throughout Texas regularly. Occasional out-of-state travel will be required.

Minimum Education and Experience

Bachelor’s degree and 8-10 years of marketing or sales experience or a combination of education and experience required.

Preferred Education and Experience

Master’s degree in business, administration, marketing, engineering or related field preferred.
- Experience working in the research and education IT environment.
- Experience working in or with education, healthcare, or other public entities is essential.
- Experience in telecommunications and/or a working knowledge of the networking field.
- Experience at working both independently and in a team-oriented, collaborative environment.
- Proficiency in MS Office skills including, Excel, Word, and Power Point.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

- Implement short and long-term strategic goals by creating a business development plan that consists of marketing, sales and outreach initiatives and includes actionable performance targets.
- Monitor progress of business development plan(s) and report status to management and Board committees as requested.
- Serves as LEARN’s Subject Matter Expert (SME) and point of escalation for all process-related queries in regards to business development, outreach, and customer service issues.
- Responsible for setting up calls, presentations and sales visits.
- Monitor market conditions and explore opportunities to create new service offerings and possible aggregate purchasing opportunities.
- Coordinate activities with the executive team, project manager and engineering team to facilitate client development opportunities.
- Research and remain current on federal and state grant opportunities and programs such as E-Rate and the HealthCare Connect Fund. Coordinate and develop state and federal grant opportunities.
- Follow and remain current with federal programs such as E-Rate and the HealthCare Connect Fund.
- Assist LEARN staff with preparing responses to RFPs and Form 470s.
- Educate members and potential customers about LEARN’s services, and be able to articulate the value of LEARN.
- Responsible for public relations associated with projects, especially communications with members and stakeholders.
- Remain current on cutting-edge infrastructure technologies and related applications.
- Attend national meetings on behalf of the organization; gather national data on services, applications, and other business development opportunities from LEARN’s peers across the country.

This individual will work in a small team environment, but will have significant interaction with network and service providers, members ranging from K12, public and private higher education, other regional and national networks, content providers, and application providers. This role is one that requires team leadership, business intelligence, relationship management skills, and strong communication and presentation skills.
