Job Summary

The Career Development Specialist (CDS) will use their professional corporate functional experience to advise students regarding career interests and strategies, job search methods, resume preparation and related matters including personal and professional development. They will be responsible to provide career counseling to students involving all aspects of operational functions existing in the professional business environment to understanding the company culture and the different levels and roles in a corporate environment. The CDS will use their professional/corporate work experience in use of successful principles and techniques with regard to coaching, mentoring, managing, educating and training interns, colleagues or employees to benefit and help students develop the ability to articulate their skills and qualifications in their resumes, cover letters and interviews as well as through networking activities both in person and on-line. The CDS will also work with employers to develop internship and full-time placement opportunities for our students. The CDS will also perform an event planning role for employers to gain access to our students.

Minimum Education and Experience

Bachelor’s Degree. Three to five years in corporate/business experience.

Preferred Education and Experience

Five to seven years working in a professional/corporate environment or as a career counselor.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

- Provide resume reviews, POD Sessions, workshops with approvals to post on hireJSOM/Observations.
- Provide classroom professional development to first year MS students.
- Conduct regular outreach efforts including workshops and presentations in classes, student organizations, and events.
- Create effective marketing strategies/materials to increase participation in CMC services initiatives.
