Job Summary

Provide responsible technical skills in supporting research projects in the Neural Networks and Interfaces Lab at The University of Texas at Dallas. Will perform laboratory tests in order to produce reliable and precise data to support scientific in vitro and in vivo investigations, conduct routine tasks accurately and following strict methodologies to carry out analyses, preparing specimens and samples for immunohistochemical analysis, conducting electrophysiological measurements, maintain and operate standard laboratory equipment, ensure the laboratory is well-stocked and resourced, use computers and perform mathematical calculations for the preparation of graphs or plots, conduct literature searches on identified topics relevant to the research, and following and ensure strict safety procedures and safety checks.

Minimum Education and Experience

Bachelor’s degree in one of the basic sciences; Two years experience in scientific or experimental research work; or any equivalent combination of education and experience.

Preferred Education and Experience

Bachelor’s degree in a bioscience, neuroscience, bioengineering, or in a closely related engineering discipline. Excellent oral and written communication skills and a strong interest in neural engineering.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

Perform higher level experimental, scientific, research work; coordinate research in accordance with the plans determined by scientific superiors; construct, assemble & operate laboratory apparatus and equipment; record and evaluate data obtained for use in scientific papers; collaborate with supervisor and senior research staff in preparation of scientific papers for publication; perform related work as required.
