Job Summary

The University of Texas at Dallas seeks a quantitatively oriented social scientist to become an integral member of our new Social Data Analytics and Research (SDAR) master’s program within the School of Economic, Political and Policy Sciences (http://www.utdallas.edu/epps/). The ideal candidate will have strengths in big data analytics, knowledge discovery/mining, data management, data visualization, research design, qualitative data analysis and multivariate statistics. In addition, this individual will have substantive interests in some area of the social sciences, including criminology, economics, geography/geospatial science, political science, public affairs, public policy, international political economy, and/or sociology. While individuals of all ranks will be considered, preference will be given to senior scholars who can immediately assume a leadership role in the SDAR program.

Minimum Education and Experience

An earned graduate degree appropriate to the academic discipline and a record of productivity and professional achievement.

Preferred Education and Experience

Earned doctoral degree in any social or data science.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

Demonstrate a commitment to teaching and research excellence.

Prepare and teach undergraduate and/or graduate classes.

Develop an independent line of research and participate in interdisciplinary research collaboration.

Teach four courses each academic year.
Engage in service within the academic unit, the university, and the profession as appropriate based on teaching and research constraints.
