Job Summary

The Director of Corporate Relations, UTDesign Capstone Biomedical and Mechanical Engineering for the Erik Jonsson School of Engineering and Computer Science is responsible for engaging the corporate community in ways that support and enhance the academic mission of the Erik Jonsson School of Engineering and Computer Science and the University of Texas at Dallas. The primary responsibilities of the position are to facilitate corporate sponsored UTDesign Capstone projects for biomedical and mechanical engineering – facilitating and building mutually beneficial relationships between the Jonsson School and market to leading and emerging corporations for UTDesign.

Minimum Education and Experience

Bachelor’s degree in biomedical or mechanical engineering (or engineering at a biomedical or mechanical industry) & 5+ yrs relevant professional experience; or any equivalent combination of education and experience.
Bachelor’s degree and experience in sales, management, marketing, fund-raising or university relations within a technical corporate environment.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

Will be part of the team to develop the corporate partner strategic plan, will focus on developing a strategy to break down barriers to companies considering engaging with the Jonsson School, focusing on issues related to IP, complicated processes, etc. May provide administrative functions including budgeting, strategic planning and goal setting; will perform work of complexity, working independently toward general and specific results, enhancing current work practices; assist assistant dean of corporate relations with development of policies and procedures; may develop, promote and coordinate assigned programs and/or projects; foster and maintain effective working relations with a wide range of internal departments and external contacts; provide guidance to departments, employees and students on policies and procedures; perform special projects as assigned. Expected to meet with 250 to 300 companies annually, developing new prospect partners and stewarding existing relationships. Expected to recruit 40 projects per year.
