Job Summary

The department is seeking a highly motivated post-doctoral scientist with experience in microbial genetics and genomics.

Minimum Education and Experience

A minimum of a PhD in a field directly related to research and a minimum of two years of experience/expertise as noted below; or any equivalent combination of education and experience.

Preferred Education and Experience

PhD in microbiology or related field; at least 4 years microbiology lab experience; specific experience with Enterococcus is highly preferred

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

• Cultures and performs wet lab experiments with biosafety level 2 bacteria
• Generates and analyzes “omics” data related to growth and physiology of biosafety level 2 bacteria
• Plans, coordinates, and supervises assigned research projects, and exercises responsibility for project performance and progress
• Supervises and mentors junior scientists in research and writing endeavors. Junior scientists include undergraduate research assistants, graduate research assistants, visiting researchers, and technicians.
• Assembles and analyzes research data.
• Assists in preparation of research material for reports or publication.
• Performs other duties as assigned.
