Job Summary

Possess basic understanding of RDMS database concepts and able to apply the concepts to database tasks. Able to write simple database queries and stored procedures following team standards and procedures. Demonstrates operating system knowledge related to completing database tasks. Works under the guidance of experienced team members. Exhibit solid analytical and communication skills with the capability to learn and retain new skills.

Minimum Education and Experience

No degree – Four years experience.Associate Degree with two years experience.Bachelor’s Degree with no experience.Relevant specialized IT training and/or IT certifications may be considered towards minimum qualifications.Equivalent combination of relevant education and/or experience will be considered.

Preferred Education and Experience

Master’s degree in Computer Science or related area of study with exposure to databases. Knowledge of Database Administration. Task and/or programming experience, which included a database component. Experience writing SQL queries. Exposure to designing and creating database objects. Ability to troubleshoot query performance issues. KSH or Powershell scripting. Linux or Windows OS experience. ETL experience Knowledge of vulnerabilities and patching. Troubleshooting methodology and awareness of industry standards. Problem solving skills with good communication skills.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

Administer MSSQL, MySQL and Oracle databases.
Assist other DBAs in maintaining integrity of the supported databases.
Detail oriented and attentive to the processes/procedures.
Must be able to troubleshoot problems and identify when to ask for assistance.
Provide technical support to departmental and end-users.
Installation, configuration, upgrade and maintenance of database software.
Creation of databases and database maintenance.
Database backup and recovery.
Performance monitoring, tuning and troubleshooting.
Write shell scripts and/or PowerShell scripts.
Write SQL queries, T-SQL and or PL/SQL code.
Conduct research into technology problems and have direct interaction with technology vendors.
Create, modify, and update technical and process documentation.
Complete other tasks as assigned.

On-call availability for resolving system emergencies, both during regular and off-hours.

Dexterity of hands and fingers to operate a computer keyboard, mouse, power tools, and to handle other computer components.
Lifting and transporting of moderately heavy objects, such as servers, switches, computers, and peripherals.
