Job Summary

Develop an academic advising program or unit within a university college and create or promote new initiatives in academic advising.

Minimum Education and Experience

- Bachelor’s degree.- Four (4) years academic advising, counseling, higher education, social work, human services with students, young adults or adolescents, or related experience.

Preferred Education and Experience

Bachelor’s degree and four years academic advising, counseling, higher education, social work, human services with students, young adults or adolescents, or related experience as determined by the Directors of Advising Committee.

ECS Preferred Requirements include Master in Higher Education + 3 years experience in Academic environment or Doctorate_ up to two years with experience in Academic environment.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

Advise students about the development of educational plan options and resources available; work closely with other advisors, faculty and staff to provide timely information on course/degree options and University policies; make appropriate referrals; instruct freshman yr exp course; plan, develop and implement programs for students within the school; audit degree plans; perform related duties as required including recruitment and persistence efforts.
