Job Summary

Knowledge of locks, auto door operators, door hardware and panics. Available for after-hours call out. Experience with primary hardware, software, and systems currently used on campus: Best, Sargent, SimpleK, Aim, locksmith shop tools, Von Duprin.

Minimum Education and Experience

High School diploma or equivalent; minimum of two years locksmith experience; valid Texas driver’s license and good clean driving record; knowledge of locks, power assist doors, door hardware, electrified locks, closers and exit devices; available for 24-hr call out.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

Staff the Key Shop during normal business hours. Check keys in and out using the SimpleK database. Use the eCAT system for key requests, cut new keys, and enter data into SimpleK. Operate the key engraving machine, HPC and duplicating key machines, Best key punches. Pin A2 and A3 cores. Assist with A2 key tree. Install and repair all door hardware: Hinges, locksets, panics, closers, and auto door operators. Work with vendors as necessary for additional installation and repair work. Ensure compliance with all applicable NFPA, ADA, and IBC codes. Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment. Evaluate Division 08 submittals and edit as necessary; work with architects to ensure compliance with UTD Sign and Key Shop standards. Available for after-hours emergencies. Other duties as assigned.
