Job Summary

The Fire and Life Safety Technician II conducts regularly scheduled fire and life safety inspections of campus buildings for code compliance, noting imminent hazards and ensuring immediate correction. Conducts follow-up inspections on corrective actions in a timely manner; follows up on recommended corrective actions; and works closely with stakeholders to support change. The Fire and Life Safety Technician II is also responsible for hotwork permits, confined space permits, asbestos investigations and remediation oversight, and air quality investigations and remediation oversight. This position also serves as the EH&S primary training instructor for fire extinguisher, drivers’ safety, golf cart safety, and 15-passenger van training.

Minimum Education and Experience

High school diploma; three to five years related experience; computer skills for reports and presentations.
