Job Summary

The Senior Institutional Research Associate works in a team environment to ensure timely and accurate state, federal, and other analytical reports. This position requires programming skills and data presentation competencies. The position requires an understanding of state and federal guidelines for compliance. The occupant of the position must be able to work constructively and positively with functional units and data owners across campus, with UT System colleagues, and federal and state agencies.

Minimum Education and Experience

Bachelor’s degree in quantitative research oriented discipline. – Three (3) years experience with progressive responsibility in higher education institutional research and/or reporting to federal, state and other external agencies. – One (1) year experience with designing, testing, and verifying programs. Intermediate proficiency in using MS Office (especially Excel and Access), SQL and SAS. Equivalent level of education and/or experience acceptable.

Preferred Education and Experience

Master’s degree in Computer Science, Mathematics, Social Sciences or related discipline. At least 3 year’s experience with reporting to federal, state and other external agencies. Proficiency with SAS, Excel, Access, SQL.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

Develop, prepare and maintain programs and reports to fulfill the requirements of mandatory state, federal, and other external organizations while maintaining an understanding of state and federal requirements for report development. xtract, manipulate, analyze, and report data to internal and external constituencies; manage data; prepare and maintain data files; verify data to ensure data integrity. Develop and implement processes for linking and analyzing data from a variety of sources; apply statistical techniques to analyze trends. Manipulate, develop, and maintain longitudinal data sets, verifying accuracy and consistency over time, in the context of evolving requirements regarding reporting institutional facts.

Must have the ability to ensure data integrity and accuracy, analyze statistical data and generate reports. Must be ability to draw conclusions and make recommendations based on research data findings; apply statistical principles and processes to meet a range of information requirements; gather and analyze statistical data and generate reports. Demonstrate ability to prepare written reports and presentations. Must have effective interpersonal and communication skills and the ability to work productively with a wide range of constituencies in a diverse community. Must be able to work independently with minimal direct supervision as well as in a collaborative team environment. Demonstrated experience with analytic research, PeopleSoft, statistical analysis and the use of statistical analysis software is preferred.
