Provides leadership and direction in the financial operations of the School of Arts, Technology, and Emerging Communication.
|Minimum Education and Experience||
Bachelor’s degree, preferably in accounting, information systems or related field; five plus years accounting/financial experience; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
|Preferred Education and Experience||
Demonstrated knowledge of budgeting, planning, and analysis. Proficient in Microsoft Office products including advanced knowledge of Microsoft Excel. Excellent oral and written communication skills. Experience preparing reports and presentations for senior leadership. Demonstrated ability to meet deadlines and to successfully identify, organize and complete multiple tasks independently and within a team environment. Keen attention to detail and superior organizational skills. Professional demeanor. Proven interpersonal skills and experience managing confidential data.
Master’s degree in Business, Finance or Accounting and/or CMA preferred. More than the required experience above. Experience using PeopleSoft or similar system. Experience using/modifying relational databases. Prior experience working in a corporate or university environment. Experience optimizing funds from various sources (state allocations, fees, contract/grants, endowments, gifts). Knowledge of development processes in higher education or non-profits.
|Essential Duties and Responsibilities||
Coordinate the School’s annual budget process. Plan, develop, and manage budget including multi-year budget forecasts and revenue/expense projections. Maintain detailed knowledge of the School’s financial operations, funding sources, policies and procedures. Approver for designated financial activities. Review and approve monthly reconciliations.
Prepare monthly financial analyses. Support long term financial strategic planning, business planning, and operations monitoring. Analyze and control budget variances to ensure prudent fiscal management. Compile, interpret and communicate information to various internal and external audiences. Prepare ad hoc analyses and reports.
Interpret policies and regulations concerning the School’s financial activities ensuring compliance with the relevant university policies and procedures. Design and monitor systems of measurement and internal controls to safeguard assets and resources, and to satisfy auditing requirements.
Other duties as assigned.
