Job Summary

The Erik Jonsson School of Engineering and Computer Science at The University of Texas at Dallas (UTD) invites applications for multiple faculty positions in Mechanical Engineering at the rank of Assistant, Associate, or Full Professor.

Candidates must have a strong commitment to undergraduate and graduate education and strong potential to develop an externally funded research program.

Applications will be considered in dynamic systems & control, manufacturing & design innovation, mechanics & materials, and thermal & fluid sciences. Application domains of interest include, but are not limited to: renewable energy and storage, emerging technologies for design and manufacturing with application to health care and nanotechnology, mechatronics and robotics with applications to health care, nano/micro- and bio-mechanics, and thermal transport and management. Applicants with experience in engineering education and the professional formation of engineers are of interest as well.

Review of applicants will begin immediately and will continue until the positions are filled.

Applicants should submit (a) their current curriculum vitae, (b) letters of research and teaching interests, and © letters of recommendation from three academic or professional references via the on-line application form. Additional references may be requested if deemed necessary.

Applicants must choose one of the following as their main area of technical competence: dynamic systems & control (DSC), manufacturing & design innovation (MDI), mechanics & materials (MM), or thermal & fluid sciences (TFS).

Minimum Education and Experience

Terminal Degree in the Academic Discipline or in a Related Discipline is required.

Preferred Education and Experience

For Assistant Professor rank: two years or more of postdoctoral or industry experience. Doctoral degree should be in engineering or a closely related field.

Candidates for the positions at the associate or full professor levels must have strong records of scholarly and professional achievements.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

Establish and/or continue a collaborative line of research in Mechanical Engineering, contribute to the cooperative atmosphere among the faculty, and secure extramural grants to support these endeavors.

Prepare and teach courses for a diverse student population in the classroom, the laboratory, and/or on-line.

Contribute assessment and data as requested through the administrative teams working with assessment and accreditation.

Engage in service within the academic unit, the university, and the profession as appropriate based on research and teaching constraints.
