Job Summary

Candidates in all areas of Computer Science will be considered though the department is particularly interested in areas of software engineering, machine learning, data science, cyber security, and IoT. Faculty will conduct research in the area of candidate’s specialization, teach graduate and undergraduate courses, provide service to the department/school/university and the computer science academic community, supervise graduate students, raise extramural funds to support research; other duties as needed befitting the person’s rank.

Positions are open for applicants at all ranks. Tenure-system Faculty are expected to have completed the terminal degree before they begin employment at the University and to have engaged in classroom instruction as well as creative productivity or professional achievement during their graduate education or previous employment. Faculty members should demonstrate a commitment to teaching excellence, service, and active scholarship.

Minimum Education and Experience

Terminal Degree in the Academic Discipline or in a Related Discipline is required.

Preferred Education and Experience

Candidates for senior positions must have a distinguished record of research, publication, teaching and service, and demonstrated leadership ability in developing and expanding (funded) research programs. Doctoral degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Computer Engineering, or Cognitive Science. 8-10 years’ experience is preferred for senior ranks, but less experience will be considered for junior ranks.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

Conduct research, supervise PhD and MS thesis students, and write grant proposals for funding.

Teach graduate and undergraduate courses, supervise independent studies, and mentor students.

Serve on various committees of the CS Department, Jonsson School, and the University.

Three letters of recommendation should be submitted no later than January 15, 2017. Applicants considered for senior ranks will be asked to submit separate letters of recommendation as needed.
